Politician
Description:
As the city population is growing, the absolute feudal system is weakening,
something seen foremost in Triskellian.
Trade takes the place of whips and official authority, and new powers are
beginning to make themselves known. The power of the people is not yet
very substantial, but with influential guilds and a weak aristocracy, the
field is wide open for the fast-talking, two-faced, always-landing-on-their-paws
characters known as Politicians. Originally, they came from the ranks
of influential and wealthy merchants. In time, they might form a class of their
own.

Qualifications:
Being a resident of Triskellian is a plus, for a start. As of yet, you'd have
some serious problems being a politician elsewhere.
An extensive knowledge of modern (Triskellian) economics and the powers
driving it is also important. Slippery lips, and oratory skills will take you
far in the profession, but solid knowledge of etiquette and diplomacy are
even more essential in a world where the Houses are ruling Calabria.
|
Applies to:
|
Literacy:
|
There is a need for a huge amount of circumstancial knowledge
| |
Administration:
|
Managing and keeping track of everything
| |
Diplomacy:
|
Negotiations and compromises. These are tools of the politician.
| |
Etiquette:
|
In today's political climate, the Houses are most important of all. And
what would happen if you don't know exactly how to address them?
|
| |
Other:
The aforementioned qualities are by no means enough for any successful politician.
Skills in i.e. oratory, fast-talk, psychology and a high mind trait would also be
necessary. Being a politician in Calabria today is very demanding and difficult,
and it implies some intrinsic power (which is in high demand, as usual from the
people who least deserve it).
