Dugan was always a very troublesome wolverine, from the very start to now. Unhappy with his peers and always showing his feelings in a very physical manner, he soon got at edge with the people around him. They shunned him and avoided him, closing their doors in revulsion and fear.

The path of crime lay wide open, though. The less savory elements of Harrowgate proved to be of a more robust nature. Dugan soon became part of a gang of criminals conducting hit-and-rob operations on the routes between Harrowgate and the eastern parts of Calabria. Before long, Dugan was the leader of the gang, and the future indeed looked bright...

...until the day, when the gang was ambushed and slain to the last robber except for Dugan who miraculously escaped with most of his skin. That was Dugan's last piece of luck for a long time. After that, he had to take humiliating smaller jobs for the established criminal elements of Harrowgate. But that was not all. It seemed that Dugan was rapidly becoming politically inconvenient. It was time to get rid of him.

Very well aware that it would not necessarily be easy to get rid of Dugan in a direct way, the clandestine powers behind it all instead set him up for a special task - a suicide mission to the Phelan. He was to spy on Kheeran, a fox who was also up to his ears in trouble. While neither of them knew what lay in wait for them, they were to be set up as scape goats for an assassination cover-up.

The mission failed. The wolverine and fox returned to Harrowgate together with new friends and were starting to ask questions. It started getting quite dangerous. Luckily, they hadn't figured out their presumed demise, and quickly they were dispatched to actually carry out a real assassination. Xygnier, who were in contact with Dugan's secretive employers set them up to rid the world of Rashyn, an old rival of his.

Will they do it? Will their conscience win? Will the staggering amount of money they have been offered to do the dirty deed actually prove the final factor in the decision? And if so, will they survive?
