Status: Soot-furred Stoat, NPC, unacknowledged inventor of the combustion engine
Steamy used to be a scholar of physics at the Dunwasser College in Triskellian. However, when he presented his newest project and biggest invention yet, the combustion engine, the professors were disgusted by the smoke and the smell of the hellish machine which appeared to be good for nothing and therefore decided to throw him out of the university.
Completely disdained by this eviction, Steamy swore that he would find somebody he could cooperate with and finance him to put his invention to practical use, and then he would show those nitwits at the College!
He didn't need to wait long for this: spies of one of the most powerful pirate captains, Capt'n Dutch, abducted him and brought him to the pirate village of Capeville where Capt'n Dutch asked him to use his combustion engine for powering pirate ships. Steamy agreed to this with pleasure, and, with the supplies the pirates looted, he set out to build Calabria's first steamboat.
However, as work progressed and the first ship, The Flying Dutchfox, was finished and a second steamer was in production, he found that the pirates weren't really valuing his work. They seemed to be only using it for their own purpose of looting and extortion. Yet he realized that the pirates would never let him go. So he waited until a chance of escape arose.
And his patience was rewarded. During one of the first raids with The Flying Dutchfox, certain crewmen who were recently "acquired", namely Tarek, Sheritra, Rei and his new stoker, Kheeran, took over the ship and tried to escape to Triskellian. However, they hadn't rid themselves of Capt'n Dutch yet, who discovered their betrayal and followed them in the second steamboat, The Flying Dutchvixen, which had a more powerful but experimental engine. A very one-sided gunboat battle in the bays of Triskellian ensued, in which The Flying Dutchfox received heavy damage. However, The Flying Dutchvixen's untested engine, strained to the max, exploded, causing the ship to sink to the bottom of the sea. The Flying Dutchfox by then was steerless because the steerman had been killed in a violent fight, which proved fatal to Tarek as well. Due to this, the ship smashed into the shore of Triskellian, destroying a, fortunately, empty house.
When Steamy regained consciousness after the heavy collision, and found its crewmen gone, he walked out of the wreckage, sad for its loss. Yet, he decided that, when he found his next partner, he would put his creation to an even greater use! And then he would show those College nitwits!
Appearance: Though stoats usually have brown fur in summer and white fur in winter, The Steaming Stoat is mostly black due to a layer of soot sticking to his pelt. He also has quite an unhealthy appearance and coughs a lot due to the everyday inhalation of smoke from his invention.
