Leader of The Equivalists movement
Nothing is pure. Nothing is untainted. Even the most laudable goal can become perverted. The most
idealistic person can be led astray by his own zeal and ambition. For as is spoken by the gods,
striving for perfection is the ultimate sin, even when done in their honor.
Theptonor was the second youngest of seven kittens, of noble birth but with no possible future
claim to anything. Sure, he received a first-class education, but without any goal to channel
his efforts, his interests soon drifted away from what's considered appropriate. Deep in the
tomes of the past, Theptonor found references that the different races of Calabria might not
be so different after all. In fact, in the obscure clues and legends, he thought that there was
the beginning of a proof that all races had a common ancestry. The bitter political differences
in Calabria could be resolved without prejudice or bloodshed!
Normally, a preposterous notion such as this one would have been quickly quelled by parents and
teachers, but Theptonor chose the audience for his theories wisely. Instead of trying to convince
the already petrified minds of the elders, he went for the most idealistic dreamers of his peers,
and with his compelling charm and seductive rethoric he won them over, one by one. He called his
movement "The Equivalists" to reflect his vision of a truly equal society.
The movement grew, and with it, the goals changed. More influential people joined, and somewhere
along even a wizard, who claimed to be an expert on the science of the living. Gradually,
Theptonor found that his dreams could be fulfilled, given just a few concessions and compromises.
He dove into the complex politics of the houses, trying to gain more influence for his movement.
But power corrupts, subtly but irresistably. The beautiful silver-gray, well-spoken and refined
feline who has emerged is a far cry from the original Theptonor. Now, he lets his wizard take care
of whatever experiments that are necessary for the final proof, not caring that dozens of poor
creatures suffer for what may only be a wild goose chase. Theptonor has lost track of his original
goals, but he doesn't know it. Instead, he's using his charismatic manners and appearance to
achieve success - any success.
As the world works, such people often are successful, once success has been properly modified.
