Army of Purity
The Army of Purity is a semi-secret, pseudo-religious organization with the goal
of ridding civilization from unwanted, uncivilized beings. They primarily target
atavists and simpler folk, but so far, they haven't been able to penetrate very far into
the Wildenlands, and therefore they have been
forced to resort to methods other than confrontation.
The Army has several fronts, political and religious. They work mainly by supporting
other organizations financially in exchange for influence. In
Harrowgate, their infiltration is rather heavy,
feeding on the innate antagonism between Bisclavret and Phelan that exists in the area.
Triskellian is another area that the Army
seeks to influence, although resistance to their policies have proven to be much harder
there. Various alternative schemes to change opinion are in progress.
The most recent acquisition of the Army is just called The Circus.
The management of the once rather mediocre troupe of performers has been replaced with
members of the Army, and now The Circus is an instrument for spreading propaganda against
"un-pure" breeds. Under the recent leadership of
Zambiro,
The Circus has turned into a much more lucrative freak show, a cruel and sinister
organization, heavily laden with moral innuendo.
Members
Xygnier de Doloreaux
is the founder and leading figure in the Army. With his powerful personality and
rabble-rousing rethorics, he leads his zealous army to battle for the good of
right-thinking people.
Zambiro
is a member of the Army, now assigned to the Circus. Though he's always outwardly
supported the Army, recent events have made him start wondering whether the
with-us-or-against-us policy of the Army really is such a good idea, after all...
Taras
has always believed in the Army's viewpoint or at least, that's what he claims with
a wry grin. This huge coyote is an assassin often employed by the Army, and he's
always ready to eliminate surplus wrong-thinking individuals, for a fee, of course.
Affiliates
The Equivalists seem to be a gathering of crackpots
and fools who want to breed the world into a better place, combining races. This, of course,
is quite a heresy, but those gullible fools have no idea that they're producing their own
doom. Since they are providing a generous multitude of spectacularly deformed freaks, the
Army secretly buys these unfortunate being and sells them to The Circus, making a bit of a
cash on the side as well as generating some useful negative public opinion.
The Circus is now a major outlet for the Army's
propaganda department. They frequent mainly the Triskellian area, but also make detours
to larger towns and cities in Calabria. The Circus is not directly under Army control,
but the heavy sponsorship that the Army provides pretty much ensures that the Circus
continues along its new direction.
The Volrath are doing a bit of business with the Army,
indeed, usually of the influence-for-propaganda kind. The Volrath leader Ralf is admired
through the ranks of the Army for his brilliant mind, his iron-hard self control and of course,
his stern opinions against the Phelan and other uncivilized elements. For some reason, though,
the deals between Volrath and Army of Purity never come further than on a strict business
plane, as Ralf always declines all offers of further involvement.
Didactylos
has worked as a free-lancer for the Army from time to time, helping with various
magical services. He's not really a member of their ranks, but his contributions to
the demise of some of their enemies have been highly appreciated.
Enemies
The Twelve Paws are working against the Army, trying
to stifle their influence in high political places. At the moment, there seems to be a
bit of a deadlock in which the Army has found themselves incapable of getting any form
of useful influence in Triskellian, but the people they have won to their side stay
there. Time is ripe for the next battle in the neverending war.
